Redheart Tool Cabinet
I picked up this piece of Redheart at Hardware Specialties simply because I had to, I mean look at it. I had also just received a set of new chisels and they needed a home so I thought "a tool cabinet" would be a match made in heaven.
The board was almost an inch thick so before I could get started I needed to re-saw it in half. Which I did a my band saw I was even more amazed when I opened it up!
I hand cut dovetails into the 4 sides then routed a groove in the back to accept the back panel
I added L shaped strips of Redheart to the edges of the door and then carved out a recess to use as the door pull for the cabinet. |
Making the 5 panel doors was pretty standard, just rout grooves on one side of all the pieces and cut tenons on 4 ends. To make the panel I ran the Redheart through the planer until it fit the grooves in the door frame ( a heavy 8th")

Pretty empty looking but I had more chisels on the way!
