Mahogany Floor Lamp
I have built a few lamps in this similar style, they seem to be popular. This one is in Mahogany and I must say is my favorite so far.
To start with I made a template that I thought looked interesting. Then traced it onto all the blanks and cut them as close as I could on the band saw.
A spindle sander was used to smooth the edges so that I could use the router to round them over. Then came many hours of hand sanding to blend everything in and give it a more organic look.
I wasn't sure how exactly I was going to do the base. I ended up using half of the template and mirroring it onto each leg. I drilled 3/8" holes centered in each end of every piece for the bolts.
Next comes the finish, I used 2 coats of danish oil nothing special and easy to re-finish.
All done! It can be positioned in a million different ways, and sports a vintage style Edison bulb and stainless steel cord cover.
